GhostRunner Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 16, 2026

In short: GhostRunner has no accounts, advertising, or analytics. Your GPS route is processed on your device for the active chase and is not uploaded to Greenleaf or saved as running history. Displaying the online map requires requests to OpenStreetMap, as explained below.

Who provides GhostRunner

GhostRunner is provided by Greenleaf in Denmark. Questions about this policy or the app can be sent to [email protected].

Location data processed on your device

GhostRunner uses precise location, movement, speed, elapsed time, and route points to draw your trail and calculate the positions of you and the pursuing ghost. This processing is necessary for the app's core chase functionality.

During an active chase, location tracking can continue while the app is in the background or the screen is off. Android displays an ongoing notification while this happens. Tracking ends when you stop the chase.

Route points are held temporarily on the device for the current chase. GhostRunner does not upload them to Greenleaf, does not create a cloud copy, and does not currently save them as running history. They are discarded when the chase ends or the app process is terminated.

Online map requests

The map is provided using tiles from the OpenStreetMap Foundation (OSMF). To display a map, the app requests tiles for the area being viewed. Like ordinary internet requests, these requests disclose the device's IP address, request time, app/device information, and the map tile coordinates requested. Tile coordinates can indicate the general area being viewed and may correspond to your current area.

OSMF operates this service independently under its Privacy Policy and Tile Usage Policy. GhostRunner does not intentionally include your identity or raw GPS trail in tile requests, and Greenleaf does not receive OSMF's server logs.

Information stored locally

The app stores only operational preferences on your device, such as:

• unit system and head-start settings;
• sound, vibration, image, and background battery preferences; and
• whether the current safety notice has been acknowledged.

These preferences remain until changed, cleared through Android's app settings, or removed by uninstalling the app.

Information Greenleaf does not collect

GhostRunner does not provide Greenleaf with:

• accounts, names, email addresses, or contact lists;
• GPS trails or running history;
• advertising identifiers;
• analytics or behavioral profiles; or
• payments or financial information.

Greenleaf does not sell personal information or use it for advertising.

Permissions and your choices

Precise location is required for route and chase tracking. If you deny location permission, GhostRunner cannot run a chase. Notification and battery-optimization permissions help Android keep an active chase running in the background. Alert sound, vibration, and the scary image can be controlled in the app's settings.

You can stop a chase at any time, revoke permissions in Android settings, clear the app's local data, or uninstall the app.

Children

GhostRunner is not directed to children under 13. It includes a pursuit theme, optional frightening content, and physical-exercise safety warnings. Users should choose settings appropriate for their age, fitness, surroundings, and sensitivity to frightening or flashing content.

Security and international processing

Keeping route processing on the device reduces exposure of sensitive location data. Internet map requests may be handled by OSMF's global service infrastructure according to its policy. No internet service can be guaranteed completely secure or continuously available.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated if GhostRunner's features or data practices change. The effective date above will be updated, and material changes will be communicated through the app or its store listing where appropriate.
