Tsunami in a Box Privacy Policy
Effective date: 5 October 2026
Tsunami in a Box runs its simulations on your device. It has no user accounts, advertising or analytics. Settings and saved simulations are stored locally. Map and elevation data are downloaded from Greenleaf's own data server, which receives the network information described below. An optional Pro upgrade is bought through your app store.
Who provides the app
Tsunami in a Box (Android package dk.greenleaf.tsunami) is provided by Greenleaf in Denmark. Contact us at [email protected] for privacy questions or requests. Greenleaf is responsible for personal information you send us directly, such as support correspondence.
Simulation data and local storage
The app processes your selected map area, terrain and seabed heights, wave and fault settings, simulation results, and measurements on your device. It stores preferences, downloaded map and elevation caches, and simulations you choose to save in the app's local storage. Diagnostic logs may also be written locally. The app does not upload saved simulations, measurements or logs to Greenleaf.
Saved simulations may include geographic coordinates of the area you chose. These are simulation locations, not readings of your device's physical location. The app does not request GPS or other device-location permission.
Map and elevation data
When you view the map or load an area, the app downloads map tiles and elevation data over HTTPS from data.greenleaf.dk, a data server run by Greenleaf. It contains a base map built from OpenStreetMap data and elevation data from GEBCO, EMODnet Bathymetry and the Copernicus DEM. The app does not contact these organisations directly.
The server is hosted on Cloudflare's storage and content delivery network. Like any web server, it receives your public IP address, the time of the request, the file or map area requested and technical information such as the app's user agent. The requests can show which areas you look at, and an IP address can indicate an approximate network location. We do not add your name, email address, advertising identifier or simulation actions to these requests, and Greenleaf does not use them to identify you or build profiles.
Cloudflare processes this network information on Greenleaf's behalf to deliver the data and protect the service, under the Cloudflare Privacy Policy. Its servers may be outside your country or the European Economic Area. Cached data reduces repeated downloads, but areas you have not loaded before need an internet connection.
Some scenario descriptions link to background articles. Those links open in your web browser, and the website you visit handles your data under its own policy.
Purchases
Some features are part of an optional Pro upgrade. The purchase is handled entirely by Google Play or the Microsoft Store, under Google's Privacy Policy or the Microsoft Privacy Statement. The app only asks the store whether Pro has been bought on your account, so it can unlock the features. Greenleaf does not receive your payment details. The store gives Greenleaf an order record as part of normal sales reporting.
Support correspondence
If you email us, we receive your email address, your message, and any attachments you choose to send. We use this information to respond to and resolve your request. Please avoid sending unnecessary personal information in screenshots or logs. We retain correspondence only as long as needed to handle the request and related follow-up, or meet applicable legal requirements.
Where EU data-protection law applies, we rely on our legitimate interests in providing support and maintaining the app for this correspondence, and on legal obligations where applicable. We do not sell personal information or use support messages for advertising.
Permissions, retention and deletion
The app uses internet access and network-state access to download map and elevation data, and the store's billing permission for the Pro upgrade. It does not request access to contacts, the microphone, the camera, or your device location.
Settings and saved simulations remain locally until you remove the app's data or uninstall it. Downloaded caches may be removed automatically as cache limits are reached. On Android, you can remove local app data through Settings > Apps > Tsunami in a Box > Storage > Clear storage (wording varies by device). This also removes saved simulations and preferences.
There is no Greenleaf app account to delete. Device or operating-system backup services, if enabled, may retain copies under your own backup settings; manage those separately.
You can contact [email protected] to request access, correction or deletion of personal information held by Greenleaf. Depending on applicable law, you may also have rights to restriction, objection and portability. Greenleaf cannot retrieve simulations stored only on your device. You may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority, including the Danish Datatilsynet.
Children's privacy
The app does not ask users to provide their name, age, contact details or an account. The data downloads described above work the same for all users. If you believe a child has sent personal information to Greenleaf, contact us so we can review and, where appropriate, delete it.
Security
Simulation processing takes place on your device, and the app uses HTTPS for its downloads. No device or network service can be guaranteed completely secure. Protect access to your device and any backups of app data.
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when the app's data practices change and revise the effective date above. Material changes will be communicated in the app or store listing where appropriate.
